Briquette
The resulting product of the DRI unit is used as an intermediate product in Arfa’s iron and steelmaking unit. This unit has the potential of producing 60 thousand tons of sponge iron briquettes per year.
The soft sponge iron that is separated by screening the product, after the process of transferring from direct reduced iron unit to steelmaking unit (smelting) becomes compressed in the briquetting machine applying a small amount of lime and silicate glue and finally turned into briquettes. Briquette is used in electric arc furnace due to its high metallization and suitable weight.
One of the important goals of briquette production is considering environmental protection. In this regard, soft sponge iron which is one of the side wastes of the production and transfer process of sponge iron is converted into briquettes. After being melted, this product turns into steel ingots.
